Why won't it turn on?

I have a dell laptop that has almost no space on it so it couldn't do updates so I stopped letting it update. Well it tried to update the other day when I turned it on and so I went to turn it back off so it wouldn't update. It wouldn't turn off by pressing or holding down the power button so I took the battery out. It turned it off, but now it won't turn back on, even with the battery back in place. If I press the power button to turn it on, the screen does nothing, but the fan inside turns on and the light turns on, however after a couple seconds the fan turns back off and the light fades off. I also noticed that I still need to charge it, if I don't then the light will come on on its own as orange to tell me the battery is low (The computer is still not on when this happens) I seriously need this laptop so please help me.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

What model of Dell is it?

The problem with nothing appearing of the screen doesn't sound like it's related to the update problem - you should at least get the BIOS splash screen.

Even if the laptop is terminally dead you can almost certainly get your data back by removing the hard drive and connecting it to another computer with a USB-SATA adapter, which you can get on eBay pretty cheaply.

I don't know how to tell what model it is but the information on how to transfer the data is extremely helpful incase I need to just get a new laptop. Thank you for commenting, this is my first laptop so I'm pretty bummed it didn't last long.

On the back of Dell laptops there is a "service tag no" 7 letters long.

Go to Dell's site and click on support and enter that number in the box . That will tell you what model it is and let you download the service manuals for it.
