You can actually pull the trackpad out of the topcase... it's not too difficult, you have to remove the battery which, if I'm not mistaken, requires the tri-wing driver. The trackpad is also a tri-wing. Once you have the trackpad out... be very careful with it and try a *little* water with a paper towel and clean whatever looks like it has wine on it. Do *not* use water on a circuit board. After cleaning it, let it dry for a few hours before reassembling it.

When you say remove it from the topcase...you still have to open the computer from beneath right or can you remove it directly from the top of the trackpad?

some macbook pro's click pad's use the same clicker piece as the ipod center button. havn't done this myself but my boss replaced that piece with one from a broken ipod 5th gen board to get the clickpad to work again.

this was on a 13 inch 2009 core 2 duo so if it's the same model and you take the track pad out and you look at the bottom side of it you will see what im talking about.

-it may depend what year yours is though because i noticed that they changed the design on the 2010 ones... may still use the ipod clicker though.
