iMac 27'' Power on problems

Hi, i have a 27'' iMac with a power supply problem (i think)

When i try to power on the iMac it nevers turns on but if i move the power cable sometimes it turns.

Sometimes when i dont use it and i try to turn on it power on without problems.

It will be a power supply problem? Logic board poblem?

What i can do to discard the problems?

I did the SMC Reset and it didn't work

Thanks!

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Bryan, did you ever find the answer? I have one about 4 months old that is doing the same thing. Apple told me they replaced the logic board and power cord, but it still has the same problem.

You say when you move the power cable sometimes it works, are you sure its related to the iMac and not the power cable, if possible I would try another power cable first to test it doesn't really have to be an apple one any generic one would do for testing. let me know how you get on.

I tried with 4 power cables and i have the same result one of them are original.

When i use the generic cables it turns on but of 10 attempts one works and turns on.

And sometimes when it turns on, loads the apple logo, it shutdown and i cant turn on again

Have you tried a PRAM reset?

Shut down your machine. Yes, all the way down, not sleep or logging out.

Press the power button and then press command-option-p-r. You have to make sure you get those keys pressed before the gray screen comes up or it won’t work.

Hold those keys down until your Mac reboots again and you here the startup chime.

Let go of the keys and let your Mac reboot normally.
