Why won't my car Rev over 2000rpm

Hi I have a nissan wingroad 2005 my car won't Rev over 2000rpm the engine light is not on though any ideas on what could be the problem please??

@pukana could be a lot of things. Check your fuel pressure, make sure that it is adequate and perform a regular tune up (things like new spark plugs, fuel filter etc.) After that check to see if this is caused by a clogged catalytic converter. To test is you would need things like back-pressure gauge, vacuum gauge and laser thermometer etc, so you might want to consider getting it check by somebody that has those tools.

@pukana That about covers it . My guess would be a clogged cat .Would still be a good idea to see if there are any stored codes just cause the lights not on doesn't mean it hadnt thrown a code previously . Odds are the downstream O2sensor isnt working right plugged the cat with raw fuel but now that the cats plugged its not getting enough data to throw a code .
