My 160 GB iPod classic freezes when synching, but diagnostics is fine.

Some of the previously asked questions seem to touch on this a little, but nothing to complete satisfaction.

So when I try to sync my 7th generation 160 GB Ipod Classic with my Itunes it freezes Itunes. But not just Itunes it seems to give my computer issues connecting with the internet. Perhaps of note is that I use a Belkin N-300 wireless adapter which plugs into a USB port. Maybe that matters maybe it doesn't. Also, if I try to reformat while not opening my Itunes up, it will load up most of the way while trying to open the device, but then stop right at the end.

Now, I ran a diagnostics check on it and my Retracts are showing 14 and my reallocs are showing 304. To my understanding that isn't high enough to signify a bad hard drive.

I was considering buying a new Sony Walkman, but I don't really have the money right now. The reason being if another hard drive just went out, I'm not buying another classic. My last one went out too quickly as well, and this one has had this weird delay thing since it was only a few months old. I'm also considering installing a new flash drive in this one, but I don't really like messing with electronics unless I have no choice.

Anyway, any help is appreciated.

If reallocations are 304, that seems high to me. Considering threshold is 200 normally, I would back up the music on the iPod and do a full format, and check the sectors.

I would also run disk utility on the host machine's hard drive and do a permissions repair and / or a disk repair if it is a Mac.

If it is Windows run the command

chkdsk c: /f /v (on windows 7/8)

chkdsk c: /offlinescanandfix (on windows 10)

answer yes, and restart the computer to start the check.
