Home Button sometimes not working, TouchID always?

Hello,

the home button of my iPhone 6 doesn't work anymore. But sometimes the home button starts working again for some clicks, after some time it stops working again.

TouchID and the reachability-function (double tap on home button) does always work, even if the home button click doesn't.

Any ideas or solution for this problem?

Best regards,

Mike

Your home button may need to be replaced. However, from what this says, TouchID will no longer work. But have a look: iPhone 6 Home Button Replacement

I saw this instruction already, but I thought it's strange, that the home button is working sometimes

If you feel the "clic" it could be only a connector trouble. Did change your screen recently ? May be a poor reconnection of home on its connector or a bad connection on the mother board (vertical connector under shielding in screen connector area)

Thank you for your answer. Yes, I feel the "click", and I haven't changed the screen at all. Could it just be a bad connection of the home button?

a few different things i have found cause this issue.

Always check the connections of intermittant parts, and before even opening the device, try a hard reset. (home and power for 15 second or until you see the apple logo)

if your button doesnt have the mechanical clicking feel, the nub on the button itself could be worn off. a quick replacement of the nub is relatively simple. if it DOES click, than continue on.

if these dont fix it, you should check for corrosion. corrosion is a mineral build up from moisture, clinging onto the metal of your device. be sure to check the connectors on the Board, extension flex, and home button connectors. a quick scrub with 99% isopropyl will remove that.

last attempt is a home button replacement. Without apple OEM callibration machines, you will not be able to have touch ID working again after the repair.

If these dont fix it, i would try a factory reset as a last ditch effort to try and get it working.

Anything further than this, is a problem with your main board.

Thanks for the answer, how can I do a hard reset, if my Home button doesn't work properly? And yes, the home button clicks correctly, could it just be a cable that's connected badly?

you were saying it functioned occasionally, in order to do a hard reset you could play around until the button works, and do it then.

as for loose connection, that is the first thing in my post to try.

I also have this problem with my iP6s+. I tried the alcohol step but I only have the 70% solution, it did fix the problem for an hour and still comes back. Is it with the mineral build up you say that's not been totally removed because I only used 70%? If yes, where can I buy 99% isopropyl alcohol? Thanks!
