Remove the headphones & the iPod touch freezes

The headphones work fine but when the headphones are plugged in you can still hear music playing from the internal speaker & the headphones. Remove the headphones & the iPod touch will freeze up everytime.

btc909 does your ipod have the origianl firmware on it or did you jailbreak it? Any recent updates? Did you try to restore it or at least reset it? Have you checked your settings? Just wondering because the more information you give the more help you can expect. Good Luck.

No jailbreak, latest firmware, I did do a restore when I updated the firmware. The iPod Touch was slugish doing anything so I did a reset which did help. I don't know of any settings to check. I don't know of a setting that sets the audio output to the internal speaker & external speakers/headphone.

I would try changing the headphone jack. It is probably shorted out. If you need more help, ask me.
