Can't get digital channels to auto scan on vizio gallevia only analog

So this tv, older. vizio gallevia was getting digital channels on antenna for awhile then we moved it to another room and it had cable. Now its back in bedroom and we are trying to switch it back to broadcast antenna. But when we choose input and tv go to menu on remote we choose air and then auto search and it will only search analog. digital will not scan. on another screen digital is greyed out. Tried setting it back to factory setting an still doesnt work. Frustrated. we are in no position to buy new tv..

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Hi,

Not sure if this is relevant or even if it is for your model but have you tried pressing the "TV" button on the remote?

According to the user guide:

"TV/Previous Chapter – Repeated pressing of this button switches

between DTV and TV programming."

Not sure if by programming they mean tuning or not but to me it seems to indicate switching between analogue and digital (DTV & TV) and when you reset the TV perhaps it defaulted to the analogue setting.

It doesn't hurt to try it, if it doesn't work you've only lost a few minutes of your time.

No TV button just comes up with input.. pushing it over and over does nothing

Hi,

Try a hard reset of the tuner and the TV.

1. Switch off the TV at the power outlet.

2. Remove the aerial cable from the co-ax input socket.

3. Remove the power cord from the TV.

4. Press and hold the TV's power ON button for 30 seconds then release the button.

5. Insert the aerial cable back into the Co-ax socket

6. Insert the power cord into the TV

7. Switch on the power outlet then turn on the TV and try to scan for DTV channels.

Reset does nothing . I've tried it several times.

You likely have a bad Linear Voltage Regulator and need Part #: LD1117ASTR

The part is available on Amazon for around $6 shipped: https://www.amazon.com/Voltage-Regulator...

The part is also available from Digikey for around $9 shipped: https://www.digikey.com/product-detail/e...

See the middle of this well-done video by NorCal715 for how to replace the part:

I have the same problem. I checked the Voltage Regulator and it reads ok. 3 Volts coming in and 1.2 Volts going out. Not sure what else could be wrong!
