One of my USB ports doesn't work
One of my USB ports doesn’t work. It's not the one on the side with the MagSafe, it’s the oppose side.
Are both USB ports connected to the I/O board?
Is this a good question?

Each USB port has its own connection to the main logic board. A common cause for one port to fail is someone used the wrong power unit for a USB device. So what happens the USB power driver TI current limited power distribution switch chip gets burnt from the over voltage. Each port has one just behind it on the bottom side (marked 2557).
To prove this you can plug in a powered USB hub and then connect a passively powered device into the hub (like a thumb drive) it should show up on your desktop whereas if you connected it directly to the bad port it wouldn’t.
