System comes on, good pictures but no audio output
Have tried external. speakers yet no audio

@osuji besides all the excellent points made by @jayeff you do want to disconnect everything from your TV's inputs. Then unplug the set for a while pushing and holding the power button for a short while as well. After that. Connect one input source and start your TV. See if that changed anything.
If none of the above worked you are possibly having an issue with the amp out for your TV. For that we would need to know the exact model.

Hi @osuji ,
What is the model number of the TV?
What is the signal source type e.g. coax input from a "box' or aerial, HDMI input, AVI input etc., that you are using and have you tried different inputs/signal sources to see if the audio is OK?
Have you proved the audio from your source by connecting the source to a different TV if possible?
Does the TV have an earphones jack? If so have you tried to receive audio from it?
What have you tried besides connecting external speakers?
