Engine starting, but will not forward or reverse.

Hi all -

Toro Timecutter MX 5050 zero-turn lawnmower

My new lawnmower abruptly stopped today. The engine kicks on just fine, but engaging the steering handles are non-responsive. My first thought was that I ran over something that jammed a gear or something. I don't know enough about zero-turns to diagnose. Any thoughts on what I should check first?

Thanks

@kadekaaz the very first thing I'd check is the drive belt make sure that it is routed properly and see if that works.

Check your clutch to make sure it works.

After that check to see if the control arm is properly seated on your hydrostatic drive as well as the motion control assembly.

Toro list these as possible causes for your mower not moving:

1. The bypass valves are open.

2. The traction belts are worn, loose, or broken.

3. The traction belts are off of the pulleys.

4. The transmission has failed. (unlikely;-)
