Changed Micro USB port, still won't charge

My Dualshock 4 stopped charging after I had used it for a couple of months (previous owner too so not sure how long it's been in use). I did the first fix I read which was to change the Micro USB port which I have done.

Now, when I plug the controller in, it turns on for a fraction of second then straight back off again with no glowing orange light to indicate it is charging whereas before it wouldn't turn on at all, even when plugged in before I replaced the port.

My question is, do you think it's now the battery that needs replaced or because it has been dead for so long, will it take it's time to decide to charge again?

PS Support are useless as the controller is out of warranty so they aren't interested in helping me.

Just want to know what others think before I decide to change the battery.

i have this exact same issue: i have THREE DS4 controllers where NONE of them charge through the micro usb port… although, they all charge wirelessly.

i went through the same process of having the batteries changed—and even had a re-seller THOROUGHLY clean the inside of each of them—to no avail. i tried a VARIETY of charging cords, and many different outlets… even at different locations/other people’s homes, and one controller would charge with one outlet/cord combination, but wouldn’t work for the others. but, if i tried putting the “correct” controller back into the same outlet, it wouldn’t charge again.

i just feel like Sony used faulty hardware when making these controllers, and pretty much forces you to purchase a wireless docking station, which isn’t very convenient when traveling.

also, if you search online, this appears to a VERY common problem with the charging port.

Sorry I don’t have a fix for this yet, just letting you know I feel your pain. I have 2 controllers in the same boat and bought new batteries for them, worked but wouldn’t charge so I bought the charging ports and cables. changed those today and even thought one of them works for a few seconds at a time, still isn’t charging like it should and the other is slightly warm when on the charger but is unresponsive. Hope I can figure this out! If I do I’ll get back to you!
