Replaced battery, will not turn on

I replaced the battery and reassembled; the device will not turn on.

I checked the voltage on the battery before I installed it and it is 4.06 (between red and black or between red and white).

With battery installed, the voltage is .61. Not sure if this is significant.

Checked everything and it looks ok. No broken cables.

I am not a noobie tech, I am familar with this type of de-soldering and re-soldering.

Thanks,

Henry Smith

this may be a stupid question to ask you, but was the ipod working before you replaced the battery? if yes i would check a couple of things:

1- Double check your soldered connections, simple but those small wires can be finicky, also make sure they were not pinched and possibly disconnected in the reassembly process. i know you said you already checked but that can happen when your not expecting it to.

2- Simple again, but make sure they battery you have replaced it with was made for the correct generation ipod. its simple to have the wrong one shipped to you, they are easily mistakable. (also hopefully the battery is not faulty, if you have the patience and the old battery does still work just not holding a charge, try it again to confirm you haven't missed a step)

3- third i would reassemble (with the new battery) extremely carefully just to make sure everything is in the right place.

Hope this helps

Thanks for the reply. The device was working before, however it needed a new battery; the old one would not hold a charge.

I am very sure the replacement battery is the correct one and I did check the voltage before I installed it (4.06V).

I will re-solder the connections and close it all up again. If it doesn't work, then I guess I am screwed. Oh well....
