Some Dell laptops have a switch to enable or disable the wireless. There should be an indicator light for the wireless, the indicator light should be with the group of Power and Disk indicator lights. If the Wireless light is not lit then check to see if there is a physical switch on the side, usually on the right side. If there is no switch, then there should be a button or key at the top of the keyboard to enable the wireless connection.

Things to try:

Open device manager and check if your WiFi adapter shows up, if it does show up but you don't have an option to connect try doing a system restore to a date you know it was working.

Sometimes the driver can malfunction and cause the adapter to stop working if this happens the device will have a yellow triangle next to it in device manager or it will be under unknown devices, in this case just download the driver and reinstall.

If it doesn't show up at all in device manager, then you will need to open the laptop and check the connectors for the WiFi card, if you're not familiar opening a computer you should take it to a repair shop. Worst case scenario you will have to replace the WiFi card or you can buy a USB WiFi dongle.
