Why won't my battery recharge?

My charger stopped recharging my acer c720 laptop. I got a replacement power cord but it won't charge. If I unplug it the system goes blank. As long as it is plugged in, the computer it works. I can't get into the back of it to see the internal battery. There was a puff of smoke from the back and that was it.

There is the new part. The smoke isn't a good thing. It could mean that somthing fried. If the new battery doesnt work, return it and get a new chromebook as your chromebook is toast.

If you wanted to help this person, you'd try to locate what part burned out, test the motherboard to see if it's intact, see if another battery would work. Check to see if the battery poles were matched up correctly, or not--just that could fry a notebook.
