@fwiwjeannie , Jeannie, First try another card in case that card has a damaged edge. If different card not locking, look in the SD slot/port to see if there is and debri keeping the card from looking in place and if you see some very carefully pick it out with perhaps a tooth pick. If no debri found the slot lock pin/spring may be damaged and may need replaced or repaired. The link below shows how to disassemble the camera to access the SD card slot to have a closer look if need be. If not wanting to attempt the repair your self perhaps have a good local camera shop have a look/estimate repair as they may be familiar with this issue and have quick fix/parts. Good luck. I hope this helped you out, if so let me know by pressing the helpful button.

This set of instructions is to replace a mother board. I see no mention in them about fixing the SD card slot. I tried a new card, no luck. I don't see any debree in the slot.

Jeannie, the memory card holder is attached to the mother board and if defective/damage would have to be unsoldered from the mother board and replaced, this is not a job for the beginner, the disassembly link was if you wanted to look at the SD card holder to see if there was any debri or something out of place(spring/catch,etc.) that you could correct your self, step 7 the card readerI believe is under the thumb in picture and then step 8 clearly on the end of mother board. Below I attached a link so you can see what the SD card holder looks like. Hope it helps.
