Sanyo TV: sound but no image...

I have a Sanyo DP58D33 that I bought from a friend recently. It worked great for her and her family with no problems and it started out that way with me too after I bought it from them. My husband hooked up the PlayStation to the tv and everything seemed fine (everything was working as expected) when suddenly the image on the tv went black but the sound/audio could still be heard. We unplugged the PlayStation from the tv and the problem continued. Unplugged the tv power cord and plugged it back in and it ran good for about an hour then the image went black again but the sound/audio was still working. Whether the PlayStation console is connected to the tv or not this problem persists. Could it be something within the settings when connecting the PlayStation or is it something more?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

@chrystee does it make a difference if you disconnect the PlayStation, unplug your set for a few minutes then reconnect the TV (without the PlayStation)? From what you are describing it sounds like a bad power board, possibly capacitor or Mosfet issues.

@oldturkey03 yes we did try disconnecting the PlayStation and unplugging the set and then reconnect the tv without the PlayStation...the problem persisted. If the problem is one of the issues you mentioned is it an expensive repair to have done? Any tips or recommendations are welcomed and greatly appreciated!! Thanks!

problem with my HDMI input with no no picture

Hi Mohamed Barrie,

What is the model number of the TV?

What have you tried - different HDMI inputs, different HDMI cable, different HDMI signal source?

Can you get a picture using a different input type e.g. antenna input or AV input?

@chrystee83 it does sound like a power board issue. Any chance you can take the back cover of your TV and post some images of all of your boards? That way we can see what you see. Use this guide for that. Also, try different video source inputs and see if that makes a difference.

@oldturkey03 definitely going to try different video source inputs and see how that does. Will also follow the guide you reccommend to post pics of my boards once we get the back cover off. Will keep you posted on our progress...thanks for your help!
