Cycle stuck between rinse/spin (Casual); strong melting, burning smell

Washer stuck btween rinse/spin (Casual cycle). Did not drain. Very strong smell of something hot (rubber or electrical??) Turned off, unplugged let sit. Reset dial it drained and ran cycle. Have done 2 more loads no issue. Worried about internal damage from strong smell of something melting or burning. There was a hum sound emitting from dial after I opened and closed lid (prior to turning off and unplugging). In the middle of nowhere (NV) no repair services here. If I need to replace part...great. If better to buy new washer please advise. Thank you so much! KQ
