There is a small metal plate behind where the home button connector plugs in. Is that still attached to the home button extension cable?

I didn't have it before it's that important?

Is there a way I can get a replacement for that?

Do you have a picture of the part?

The metal plate that is on the back of the home button extension cable is a grounding plate. I've see this problem before with intermittent Touch ID problems after one of my technicians accidentally separated it on a screen replacement, and replacing that cable with a new one with the metal backing plate solved it.

I can confirm. It does my head in when a iPhone 6 comes in with no Metal plate under the home button extension cable connector that connects to the home button.

Won't allow contact properly and ended up causing touch ID to not work until I replaced the home button extension cable.

I was having the same problem with my Touch ID... it just stop working.

So I decided that I would tear it down and clean all the connector with alcohol and wipe the home button cable connector also, I also cleaned the face home button to make sure that it didn't have any residue.

I clean the contact point (since it is made of copper which will have a build-up of some kind like black stuff) and the home button metal . After I did all that and put it back together, it worked just fine and had no problems since.
