Display light feature not working, screen nearly black

I Have tried to adjust the display light to visualize the screen, unable to. was wondering if a hard reset would work, but unable to take the battery out of the max duo lite. Have tried to change all resets dealing with display and lighting. New phone Just all of a sudden when I picked up to turn on and see something on the web display went down to lowest lighting, very hard to see in regular light looks black, but at lowest setting. help
