How do I fix my iPod when it won't turn on?

I left my ipod on all night. The next morning I connected to a USB cord to charge it, and then took it off a few hours later because it said it was ready to disconnect. Then I tried to use it, but the screen was white and continued to say ok to disconnect. I connected it again to an USB and now it won't turn on
