Hi,

As long as the camera is of a designated 'network' or 'IP' type, then it will work on a POE system.

A webcam will not work as it needs to be connected to a PC to to gain access to the protocols used for network signalling.

You could use an old mobile phone or a digital camera (camcorder perhaps) with WiFi and video streaming capability in conjunction with either a dedicated or existing WiFi router.

Here is just one scenario which is not quite what you want, although you could use POE if necessary

Connect an old mobile phone with the correct apps installed, to a WiFi router, then POE the router to where you want the connection to go. It could even be the internet. If there is no suitable power outlet for POE at the camera location for either the router or the phone then you could power the camera (phone?) off a solar/battery setup and place the WiFi router in a location where there is a suitable POE point. This could also help if there is any interference to a WiFi signal that goes directly back to where the camera pictures are wanted, by using the POE connection to hopefully bypass the interference.

Here is a link showing how to setup an old mobile phone as a security camera.
