I have an internal hairline crack in my phone.

My Microsoft Lumia 520 phone has got a long hairline crack internally. Its not affecting the screen, so everything works exactly fine, but I still want to fix it and at the very least, cover it up. Please help me!!?

Can you take a picture of it and post it here? I would like to know if the crack is on the touch screen or the inside LCD display as both parts are separate.

On a side note: Currently typing this while my nose is bleeding.

The parts are pretty cheap and easy to replace on eBay.

I recommending ordering two touch screen digitizers instead of one if it's just the glass layer because I've had my fair share of faulty touch screens on Nokia Replacement screens.

The thing is though, I just realised that I can feel the crack when I run my nail across it.

If you can feel the crack then that is the digitizer (or in other words touch screen and glass) layer which is separate from the LCD. You can order a replacement digitizer and separate the digitizer from the LCD, there's like two frames, one for the digitizer and the other for the LCD and they both clip in together.

If you do plan to order a digitizer only, make sure to buy it with the frame because in my experience the touch screen can get interference from the LCD display causing it to not work properly.

I believe that it's due to the digitizer being too close to the LCD and the touch screen flex not being covered or insulated properly (I put kapton tape [a.k.a yellow tape] to lower the chances of the digitizer cable being affected by something else near it).

Hi @benjamen50 ,

Hope that you are alright and that you don't want to know how to clean blood out of a keyboard.

Yeah all good now, hay-fever and summer is not a good mix. :)

I remember we used to have a lot of issues with 520 and 620 digitisers (probably when they came out in 2014 or 2015) where the touch would not work properly when we were buying only the glass, and sometimes with the frame (similar touch issues to the HTC Wildfire S models, which used to need calibrating).

There were different versions of the digitiser ribbon, and we never had any issues with the original glass (had red tape on the peel off film), interesting if it was actually an insulation issue, maybe the cheap ones had incorrect insulation similar to iPad Mini's and Air's, so something was shorting?

If you do this yourself, look for a genuine/original digitiser and it should be fine.
