My Kindle is not holding charge.

My Kindle 5th Generation (D01100) is not holding the charge.

From full charge it indicates charge required after only 2 1/2 hours and this only started this past week.

I have followed the reboot process to no avail.

I have considered replacing the battery but am unable to find one in South Africa.

I managed to track down a few on international websites but they all state that tehy cannot ship the batteries to this country. I presume this is because they are lithium batteries.

Are you able to give me any advice as to how I can get this problem sorted out.

Many thanks

Hi,

This link says that they have a battery for a Kindle 5 (DO1100) AND that they have free shipping to South Africa. Mind you it takes 25-50 days according to their tables.

If this is not your battery, perhaps you could search their site and find the correct one for your device.

Note: Lithium batteries, not installed in equipment are no longer allowed to be shipped in passenger aircraft but must be sent in cargo aircraft. I'm guessing if the companies aren't shipping to South Africa it must be for some other reason than International Lithium battery shipping requirements, unless the requirement cost them to much perhaps.

edward58 from the symptoms you describe, it sounds like you are on the right track about exchanging the battery. Not sure about what to tell you about the companies not shipping to South Africa, but you could maybe try to have some private person send it to you from abroad.
