My screen keeps blanking out, why?

The screen on my tablet consistently turns black, but it is still on. I'm not sure whether it's a problem with the screen control or the screen itself, but everything still functions. The only way I've managed to revert it to normal by hitting the back on my hand a couple of times. And even then, shortly after, it blanks out again. It even blanks out in startup, but not at any specific time period. What should I do?

Hi,

As you state that you can 'make' it revert back to normal by 'hitting' it I suggest that you open the tablet using the following guide and check to see if all the cables are firmly attached in their respective connectors.

I am not suggesting that you remove the motherboard or anything else for that matter only that you inspect it to see if there is anything obviously loose that might be the cause of your problem.

Here is a link to the Ifixit guide on how to remove the motherboard in your tablet.

I will check. I thought about it and it seems like a loose wire may be the problem. I have no fear, since my family can easily work with a solder.

Hi, When you look at the guide you will notice that it is mostly cables that are slotted into connectors. Ensure that they are actually 'in' and not just sitting there. Gently, stress GENTLY try to move them out of the connectors. They should feel tight and not move. Of course anything will come out if you pull hard enough but that is NOT what you are trying to do.

At step 13 in the guide you will see that the cables are held in by a locking bar. If they are inserted properly the locking bar will prevent them from coming out. If the locking bar is loose they will not be making good contact with the connector strip.
