Why is the red lock light on?
Red lock light is on and I cannot start my dishwasher. How do I unlock?

For future reference, if the red “LOCKED” light is on and you have reset the circuit breaker, you have tried holding the heated dry button for 4+ seconds, you went from alternatively pressing the “Heated Dry” "Normal Wash," Heated Dry," "Normal Wash" and "Cancel" buttons, with no luck and are ready to throw the whole thing off a 50 story building or set it on the railroad tracks, there’s one more thing that you can do and odd as it seems, will work where these others have failed.
Open and close the door so that it’s ready to sense the keypad then press and hold the “Top Rack Only” button until you see the red “LOCKED” light flash then go out. When it goes out, you are out of “LOCKED” mode and can run the dishwasher like before.
Since the control panel gets locked due to some really poor design by Kenmore, you have to find the right button to clear the lock. 9 times out of 10 it will be the “Top Rack Only” button but if that does not work, then try other buttons, one at a time, pressing and holding until you see the red “locked” button go off. For two days I screwed with this thing, trying everything I could find online. Even the Kenmore manual says that if it’s not a breaker that was tripped and the washer is loaded correctly, then you have to call a repairman. BULL! You just have to clear that fault in the control panel. Hope this helps!!

Forgot one important thing, this is for a Kenmore Elite Dishwasher, model number 665.12763K310. Stock No. 12763K. Type No. 582-2.
I'm fairly certain however, this technique will work on any Kenmore Elite dishwasher that has the lock feature on the control board. One of the dumbest features I've ever seen. (For all the MAWU brotherhood :P)

Thank you so much :) I pushed the santi wash to unlock it and wow my dishes are now washing!!! So happy I didn't have to wait for & pay a repair person..
Thanks, Greg! You hit the nail on the head. For our Kenmore Elite 665.1475, we had to press Hi Temp Wash when the door was closed (not easy because of the counter on top). That was after trying several other buttons and the circuit breaker trick. Saved no end of angst, not to mention dish washing!

I have the Kenmore Elite Ultraclean dishwasher that i purchased in late 2017 and it was the SANI RINSE button that i held down for 3 seconds to clear the “lock” light.

@ritz to turn the lock off try to press and hold the NO HEAT DRY or AIR DRY button for 4 seconds or of course until the light turns off. If that does not work you want to disconnect the power from the dishwasher by shutting off the breaker. After 5 minutes, turn the breaker back on. Let us know if this will work for you.

those buttons are not on my dishwasher, and so far nothing online is helpful and I am ready to set the %#*@ thing I bought 7 months ago on fire
I pushed the santi wash to unlock it too! It seems like it unlocks the issue itself when you push and hold the button! When I pushed and held the Santi Wash button down there was a countdown from 3..2..1 then the unlocked happened. Saved min of $80
Holding down the sani-rinse button is what worked for me- got the countdown and everything then worked as normal/ thanks to everyone in this post
I was able to unlock my Kenmore Ultra Wash by pressing the No Heat Dry button for five seconds.

For model 665.14703N510, try the following:
To turn on Control Lock:
Press and hold TOP RACK ONLY for 3 seconds. Locked will light. If you press any pad while your dishwasher is locked, the light flashes 3 times. NOTE: The dishwasher cannot start if the control is locked.
To turn off Control Lock
Press and hold TOP RACK ONLY for 3 seconds. The lights turn Off. NOTE: You may need to disable Sleep Mode by pressing either START/RESUME or CANCEL/DRAIN, or by opening and closing the door before you are able to turn off Control Lock.

I tried almost all answers. What worked for me…
killed power from breaker in panel
took the screws that hold the door cover to expose the circuit board
Unplugged circuit board, held for 10 seconds. Then reinstalled the board.
The buttons started working as they should.

Turn off at the circuit breaker, wait 30 minutes and turn back on. That should reset your dishwasher.

Light went out but dishwasher still does not run. Any suggestions?

OMG,I got the "locked" light and cannot get rid of it.
I turned off the breaker and then the wash light was on. Cancel doesn't work.
I read somewhere to close it and let it run through the cycle.
Did that and when it was finished, open the door and the wash light is still on along with the heated dry and the light wash.
Nothing is responding.

For me, it was the Santize-Rinse button, press for 4 seconds to unlock.

I've held the button for 3 to 5 to 10 seconds. Still beeps. Even unplugged it for 20 mins.
