Mini won't boot after attempt to put back second RAM ..

Hi there,

My Mac Mini 2.26, the 2009/2010 version, won't boot any more after I upgraded OS to EL Capitan and tried to put back it's original RAM. The LED comes on, then disappears for a second and then comes back on an stays on, but nothing else. No noise, except hearing fan, no display etc ..

I was not able to upgrade to El Capitan with 2 x 2G RAM modules and after reading that removing one of the modules can help I tried it out. With only one RAM in, the installation was successful. But when I returned the second RAM, the Mini didn't want to boot any more. When I opened the Mini, I noticed that I didn't push the second memory module properly in, so I corrected that. But the Mini still doesn't booth.

I removed and played with different combinations of the RAM modules, even put back in the original 2 x 1 G which came with the Mini, but nothing changed. I also put another HD in, as I had a spare but still the same situation.

Basically, when I turn it on, the LED comes ON and then disappears after 2-3 sec, and then the LED comes back on and stays on, but nothing else is happening. No chime, no noise at all. Actually I think I could head the fan working but that's it.

I even tried to put in CD that came with the Mini, but the drive is dead, not accepting anything in. When I plug in a USB HD, the drive is powered so I guess it's not the power issue.

Can it be that I damaged the logic board when "enforcing" the second module back, because I had to apply some force.

I would really appreciate help ..

Thanks!

Dennis
