iPad 2 Power, volume buttons do not work after ribbon replacement

so i was trying to fix an ipad2 with cracked screen, after digitizer replacement the power button would not work. so i heard the power ribbon cable could be damaged. i replaced the ribbon cable twice with 2 different cables but power/volume buttons just will not work. any one have any idea?

these are quite hard to replace without damaging the new flex, so inspect to see if you can see any damage and if not try plugging in a new flex (without installing) and see if it works. if not the inspect the flex connector on the board to see if theres any corrosion or debris stuck. good luck

I just noticed that the part of the flex that connects to the board under the camera is missing The plastic clip that locks it in place, the cable is stil sitting in place but without the lock is it not making a proper connection? Could this be my problem?

Did power and volume work before you worked on it?

If so, it has to be the power flex. Be very careful at the top "turn" where it goes above the frame for a couple MM. That's the spot where a tear usually shows up. Also watch out where it tucks under the frame at the motherboard connection.

If its not the flex, I have no idea what it could be. But speaking as someone who has torn more of those flexes than I care to admit...its the flex.
