Why wont my Super Nintendo work!?

Every time I try to play a game on my Super Nintendo all I get is a black and white horizontal lines and crackling and poping noise what is wrong!?!?!?

Are you connecting your SNES to a digital TV? Are you using the RF switch or the AV cables?
