Won't Reboot - May Be The Little Battery On Motherboard?

Hi.

When I try to reboot my machine, I have to wait long periods of time before the OS (or even the BIOS welcome screen) will agree to reload.

I have both Windows XP and Ubuntu on the unit and they both behave the same, so I know I don't have a software issue.

I pulled out the drive and ran CHKDSK and it was fine.

I hear and feel the breeze when the fan comes on, so I don't think it's an overheating issue. (Cleaned much dust out of the fan as well)

It's almost as though I have to wait for some capacitor in the unit to discharge before it will boot.

Once it boots, however, it runs fast and well -- until I let it go to sleep, or hibernate. Then it's dead for a few hours.

Is there software that will test the components for me?

Everest?

Speccy?

SpeedFan?

Something makes me think the little coin-battery on the motherboard may be dead. Am I on the right track?

Thanks for any ideas.
