Why won'y my ipad charge when it displays the lightning bolt?

When i plug in the ipad it indicates it is charging with the lightning bolt in the upper right corner but it will not exceed 2% charge. any suggestions

Clean charger port if there is any lint or dust blockage.

Check if using original Apple cable and wall charger. Try holding power + home button for 15 seconds. Is the charger port flimsy when you plug the lightning cable in? Shouldn't wiggle at all. If it does then your charger port may be at fault.

Additionally you can check for any missing pins in the charging port itself.
