Samsung EVO in iMac 2390: temperature sensor and bracket question

I'd like to replace my 1TB HD with an 1TB SSD Samsung 850 EVO. I wonder if this drive is compatible, temperature-sensor-wise (can I just switch it and not get SMC-fan trouble) and if and what kind of bracket I need to get the EVO in.

Sadly, No

You'll need a means to offset the missing sensor Apple uses within SMC services to control the systems internal temp.

Luckily OWC makes the needed sensor unit and bracket frame as your current drive is 3.5" and the SSD is 2.5" in size:

You'll want to follow this IFIXIT guide: iMac Intel 27" EMC 2390 Hard Drive Replacement.

But before you do anything please make sure your systems firmware is up to date. Follow this Apple T/N: About EFI and SMC firmware updates for Intel-based Mac computers. Make sure yours is at the level listed or newer.

Thanks.

I ordered the stuff from OWC.

About the EFI update, my Mac 11,3 has IM112.0057.B03, according to Apple's site it is IM112.0057.03B. But the issue is moot anyway, because I cannot install what is on Apple's site, as on install it fails and says it requires OS X 10.9.5 (I am running 10.10.5).

My SMC is 1.59f2

.B03 (2819) is newer than .03B (59) so you're OK here (number is in hexadecimal).
