No Screen? Went From White Screen To None!

ok well this morning i was messing with my iphone 3g and the display went dim and the backlight didnt work, so i plugged it in and it worked then the display was overly white and had white lines but you could still see the icons, so i opened it up and put it backtogether and then it went to completely white, so i opened it up again and cleaned the inside of the screen and now there is no screen image and the phone and evrything else still works.... pleeeeeze give me answers! Sounds like LCD or the backlight for LCD. Is it truly black ? No very faint image? I'd try replacing LCD and if this doesn't give bright image and dim/ dark image remains then it's most likely the backlight on the motherboard which unless you are highly skilled in microsoldering isn't cheap!

Don't forget to power off using power button/ slide to power off or you may blow backlight if it isn't already
