Sleeping MacBook Pro, power issue?

This unit will goto sleep with only front light on battery or no battery.

Tried resetting PRAM & SMC didn't help.

From power up I can hear drive briefly init, no ports or screen. In past waiting a few days would allow it to wake up all normal, running 10.6.8 no startup chime heard till working again.

Have a one year older clone MacBook Pro of this with no startup issues. Thanks

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Hello Dan,

I checked the Pram and got 3v reading on a voltmeter am guessing thats ok, removed the superdrive same as before. What else can I remove hd, ram to get the logic to powerup and give me a blank screen.

Also the clone comment was worded wrong , regarding my other MacBook Pro it is a year newer running the same software 10.6.8 and FCP and has no firewire ports working, which I thing your answer is Ideal to use a express card for Firewire support of HD data in editing.

Thanks Again !

Sounds like your PRAM battery is dead. Follow this IFIXIT guide: MacBook Pro 15" Core 2 Duo Model A1211 PRAM Battery Replacement

Who's clone Mac system do you have? There where a few repackaged systems no true clones.
