Replaced battery but doesn't turn on?

I received an iPhone 5c as a hand'me-down from my sister. She ended up purchasing a the 6 since the battery in this one was fried. I forked up the $45 to have a professional replace the battery. It worked great for a week or two. Since I live out of my providers coverage area, I was still using my galaxy so the iPhone was barely used and charged maybe 3 times total. I'm planning a trip and I was hoping to switch phones while I was in the area but it doesn't power on. I've plugged it in to charge and checked an hour later, absolutely nothing happened. It doesn't turn on whatsoever. Any ideas?

The charger port may be clogged with lint. If it is you can clean it with a toothpick or equivalent. The blockage may cause the charging cable to not plug in fully.
