Home button not responding after battery replacement?

I have just replaced a friend's iPhone 5c battery, and her home button is completely unresponsive! It worked before I opened the device, I was on it just earlier today and it worked fine.

Definitely sounds like they were damaged during the repair

I'm surprised how they even got damaged during a repair. Putting a battery is basically these steps:

1. Turn off phone

2. Unscrew two pentalobe screws below phone.

3. Use a spudge or a razor blade to lift up screen from bottom.

4. Lift up screen to a 45° angle.

5. Unscrew battery cover

6. Unplug battery

7. Use spudger or the technique that always works for you to lift battery up.

(Tip. Always do from the left side of the battery and never on the motherboard side.

8. Take out battery.

9. Put adhesive if needed for battery, otherwise put in new battery then plug it in and do reverse disassembly steps.
