Brightness keys don't work after startup, but OK after wake from sleep

Hello,

My problem :

On my Macbook A1502 , the brightness adjustment keys don't work after startup ( but icons appeared on the screen ) .

However, these buttons function work perfectly after waking from sleep .

Would you know why?

I would start off by resetting the SMC. follow this Apple T/N: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC) on your Mac.

Also make sure you don't have Auto brightness set.

If auto brightness is not working correctly the sensor may have fallen out of the frame. You'll need to pop off the bottom cover and check to see if the sensor is loose.
