We replaced the digitizer on an A1432 ipad mini. After installation, the digitizer is malfunctioning ---jumping all over the place. Before putting everything back together and with the digitizer connected, the digitizer seems to work, but after we put everything back together, it malfunctions again.

It sounds like there are issues with the contacts under the digitizer. I would say to make sure the gold contacts at the bottom of the front panel next to the home button are covered appropriately. Black electrical tape will suffice.
This usually solves the problem. It's the pressure applied to the digitizer that will cause it to behave erratically if these are left uncovered.
