what's up with my power port? can I fix it?

when I plug my computer in (electrically) the glow ring around the plug that connects to the power usually yellow when not charged to green when charged is not lighting up. My computer is not charging either. I've tried another charging cord and it is not the power cords that are the issue as both cords power my wife's G4 which is the same computer as mine.

Hi! Sure, you can replace the DC-in power module, and that does sound like the correct conclusion based on what you mentioned. In most PowerBooks it is a fairly advanced procedure, but it can be done, and there are repair guides on iFixit for it. If you can let me know the model number of the PowerBook, I'll look up the right one. If you don't know the model number, just let me know whether it's a 12, 15, or 17" model, and whether the keys are silver (Aluminum) or black (Titanium), as well as the processor speed. But the model number (from the underside of the case, at the top middle) is preferable to be safe. Thanks!
