Replaced my battery, new battery shows no battery available icon

Hello, today I received a new battery I ordered on amazon because my old battery was showing a replace immediately icon. Now I installed my brand new battery using the tutorial on this site, and the battery icon has an x through it and says 'No Battery Available" when I click on it. I've tried resetting the SMS by taking the battery out and holding the power button and my using command+shift+option while it was turned off. I'm not sure exactly what information i need to include in the thread to help in finding an answer, so whatever anyone needs while helping me just let me know and ill add a comment with the given information. Please help, and thank you for your time.

Update (11/11/2015)

While using the computer just now, surfing for any way to fix this problem, the computer shut off, even while it was plugged in. Now, even though it's plugged in, the computer does not turn on at all

Try a PRAM Reset.

Here's how to reset your PRAM:

Shut down your machine. Yes, all the way down, not sleep or logging out.

Press the power button and then press command-option-p-r. ...

Hold those keys down until your Mac reboots again and you here the startup chime.

Let go of the keys and let your Mac reboot normally.

If that doesn't work you may have got a defective battery.
