amber light steady, no wifi, reset dysfunctional

Hi Guys,

my trusty old airport extreme did not come back after a restart while I tried to tweak the settings for the bridge / router mode. Now, when i turn it on, it´s the steady amber light, no connection whatsoever and the reset button is not working at all.

I opened the box to see if the reset button was alright and it seems to be ok, physically, with clicking noise and intact solder points.

I don´t want to throw it away, so.. any suggestions what could be the case here?

thanks!

Unfortunately, a solid amber LED status light typically indicates a power failure of the base station.

Unfortunately this model has a bad designed Reset switch that will easily break or come loose!
I bought my router with that switch barely hanging on the board
and succeeded to Reset twice by keeping it pushed against the board
by hand and clicking on the same time before it finally broke away from board.
As far as i see it has 4 contacts: 2 on the back and 2 on the front.
So if you wanna re-solder or replace the switch, you need to disassemble the router entirely.
because the first metal shield is partially covering the switch area and you cant reach the back 2 contacts to solder.

***The center lower edge white pin in the photo, is the Reset pin that supposed to push on the (broken and missing now) Reset switch.
