Soaked, dead, can it be revived?

Having a bad luck lately. Soaked 3GS and I lost 4GS few days ago.

Back to 3GS.

Walked while raining heavily in the forest and the phone got soaked. The phone was off, the first thing I did (mistake) I attempted to turn it on while it was still wet. It showed no signs of life.

When I got home I disassembled it, only leaving the battery in (which was replaced few months back) and left it to dry out for a couple of days. The phone is still dead.

Is there a chance to revive it, if so how?

Thank you,

Andrew

I will get back with more info in a couple of weeks, since I have to receive a new battery first and find time to replace it.

Thanks ,oldturkey.

Drew, since it is dead it will continue to slowly "decompose" unless you start doing something about it. First off, letting it dry by itself is creating bigger issues. You are now having corrosion set it.

I strongly recommend that you clean it. Disassemble it by using these guides. Clean it properly using this guide. It was written for a 3G but all the points still apply to your phone as well. Once it is properly cleaned '''replace the battery" it does not matter if you just replaced the battery. Once it had liquid damage you have to change it. Reassemble and re-evaluate. With a new battery and properly cleaned, you will have a good starting point should any further trouble shooting be necessary. There is a pretty good chance to get it going again, but it depends on your diligence and skills.
