My laptop screen is lighting up but won't come on

I was using my laptop yesterday and it was perfectly fine. Switched it off and left it on charge overnight. I’ve just come to go on it and I’ve switched it on and the screen is black but is flashing a dark blue screen (I can only just tell that it's lighting up).

I’ve seen other fixes for the problem, but they require taking a battery out and my device doesn't have a removable battery.

I’ve held down the power button but it doesn't turn it off, it doesn't have any effect at all.

I’ve only had the notebook for just over a month.

If your Acer Aspire laptop is showing only a black screen, see the Acer Aspire 5253 Has Display Problems problem page for possible causes and solutions.

Contact Acer customer support if you want to obtain warranty service on it. If you want to plow right ahead, then you can use an iOpener (iOpener) to loosen the adhesive around the screen, and remove the screen in order to access the battery (I'm assuming that this model is the one with the detachable keyboard). Make sure that you are properly grounded using an anti-static wrist strap (Anti-Static Wrist Strap) in order to remove the battery connector with a spudger and replace it.

Hi thanks for taking the time to get back to me.

I have actually fixed it now as I was looking for other solutions whilst waiting for a response on this.

For anyone that has this same problem I held the power button down for around 30 seconds and it went off (I wasn't holding it down long enough before) and then when I powered on again it started up as normal :)
