iPod touch not turning on or restarting=FROZEN!

hello, my iPod touch 2nd generation is not doing anything!it is just a black screen that is not responding to anything...if i plug it to my computer the bottom becomes worm which is what happens when i recharge it...i had it working last night before i sleep,i put some music and then i fall asleep. In the morning i woke up and it was turned off so i though that the battery is empty so i plugged it to the computer to recharge it but nothing happened!

At night i was downloading an app and i was listening to music the battery was at 40-50%...its 2 years old and has iOs 4.0.

Simple solutions first:

  1. Try a different USB port on your computer.
  2. Try a wall plug.
  3. Try a different computer.

More complex:

Replace the logic board

This sounds most likely like a dead logic board, but the simple steps are worth the time if they can save you the money. We don't have any 2nd Gen iPod Touch logic boards right now, but you can check eBay.

I would start with Apple's iPod touch trouble shooting guide:

http://www.apple.com/support/ipodtouch/a...

If that does not bring your display back, first open it and re-seat the cable connections.

If it is still dead, try to confirm if it's just the display or if it has other issues (even though you can't see anything on the display, can you get it to do anything like play music using the touch screen?) If it's just that the display doesn't work, replace it.
