My hard drive isn't being recognized

About 4 months ago my MBP wouldn't recognize my hard drive and I took it to Geek Squad and they simply recommended I purchase a new SATA cable so I did (here from ifixit.com). Now, 4 months later, I am running into the same problem. Do you guys think I should get a new cable again or get a new hard drive? Or could it even be a problem with any recently installed software? If so, how can I get into the hard drive to remove that software?.... Any answer is greatly appreciated...thank you!!

Answer this question I have this problem too

do your sata cables have secure connectors or are they just push ons. I have seen sata cables that are just push ons work there way loose to the point of disconnecting the hard drive

If you can connect to your hard drive again, please do a hard drive test right away with any program.

If any program considers a failing hard drive, start backing up your data right away and planning on buying a new hard drive.

Other than that, the solder on the motherboard on the SATA connector might be loose, have you tried another connector?
