Is thermal paste needed on the airport replacement card?

I followed the guide how to disassemble the macbook to take out the airport card. However it doesn't have any thermal paste on it.

Neither does the replacement one I bought.

Is it normal?

Can I proceed without it?

Or should I buy and apply a thermal paste on it?

Thanks

No, the older models don't have any thermal paste or pad, the newer systems do!

Both the newer MacBook Pro's & iMac's which have 802.11ac AirPort cards have a thermal pad or uses a special thermal adhesive.
