What's the role of the chip 148AV 2D012 on the Logic Board?

Hi. I'm new here and this is my first question. I have a Macbook on repair which has some video issues. Such as video randomly switches to the colored noise and machine hangs. Funny thing, it passed all ASD tests twice. It's not a RAM issue for sure. I've tried different modules with the same result. I've noticed some significant oxidation near the chip 148AV 2D012 MSA. So, I've cleaned it up. Still didn't assembled the machine but I'm curious if anyone knows what role does this chip play? It comes on several compact Macbook models (Airs mostly and the latest ones). I'm pretty sure it belongs to widely known hi-tech supplier MSA Components but what role exactly it plays? Is it possible that the video issue caused by oxidation around this chip? Because it's located suspiciously close to the GPU and definitely several channels pass through this chip towards video socket.

Thanks in advance.

Sergio Z, schematics do not identify IC's by the manufacturers markings. Add an image of where the IC is located on the logicboard so that people can try to help you with that. Use this guide Adding images to an existing question
