home button not working but touch id is?

Hello, I just replaced the digitizer/front panel for my iPad Mini 3, and my home button isn' t working, but my Touch ID part is.

I've tried everything, and looking it up I see nothing, would anyone here know the answer...?

the touch id and home button are two separate functions in the same part. they're not NECESSARILY interdependent.

The home button portion is connected in conjunction with the lock button, smart cover, etc. and a problem with that can present as a home button problem. The same can be true in the other direction, a lock button issue after a digitizer repair that isn't a damaged lock button is oftentimes related to the home button.

I assume the button "clicks" and feels right when you try to use it, my next thing to try would be to open it back up and see if it works when the digitizer isn't closed up to the frame. If it does start working while its open, the problem is a crimped flex or grounding issue that might be solved with kapton tape. If the problem persists go make sure you didn't damage the lock button somehow. If none of that helps, check back here with more details on what's going on.
