Part of the screen does not work.

My son's ipod touch has a "row" on the touch screen that doesn't work. The rest of the screen works fine, just a "row" which coincides with the area that you click "INSTALL" to install new apps. Sometimes you can scroll the screen up just enough to be outside of the dead area, but not always.

I am assuming that any type of non-functioning part of the screen requires a whole new screen to be installed?

WOOT had the current gen of ipod touch on sale today for $129. I should have bought one, but I want to fix this one...

Am I wrong? Can I fix this one?

i would first try to reseat the connector - but most likely the digitizer is faulty.

it's hard to tell you where you should buy the part - i'm from europe and as much as i want to support ifixit with buying stuff - i won't.

the shipping to europe takes ages - surely there is the possibiity to send the stuff with some express service (for almost 40$) - plus, in this case - 50$ for the front panel. that would make 90$. sorry - but i prefer ebay on that behalf - 12 or 15$ are way better than 90$ and i get the stuff faster too.

hi .sory i dont have an answer but i think that the part of screen didnt work because when you open the music player and make the divies horizontly the task bar above the screen lock the touch usage .

I think that is a manufacturing defect because I have the same problem when you put the device vertically for a long time may work.

And also when you connect iPod to a direct electric current may be affected by the screen but on the whole try to download os5.
