Just replaced battery, how long until it charges enough to come on?

Hi-I JUST replaced the battery to my iPod with iFixit, and it went smoothly. I connected the iPod (with the new battery) to my computer, and it is showing "Charging, please wait" and not disappearing. I'm starting to get anxious, because that's what it was doing with my old battery, but would never ACTUALLY charge.

Is this normal for new batteries and I'm fretting for nothing? Or did I replace a battery that was fine, and there's actually something ELSE wrong with my iPod?

How long does it take for a brand new battery to charge enough to power on the device?

pandamoniumrain, it should take no more than 15min-30min to at least get some charge. This model is plagued by a bad battery connector. Make sure that yours is still fully attached to the logic board and that the cable is properly inserted. Also, make sure the clip is down to secure the cable.
